How do you define messaging? And how is messaging different from positioning?

The terms messaging and positioning are thrown around a lot, so I wanted to ensure that I had clear definitions.
In a nutshell, positioning addresses what you, who you serve, the benefits delivered, and how you’re unique.
Messaging is what you tell people about your product or service and what's most important.
